USE RCONSOLE TO SEND FILES TO A SERVER

It may be necessary to transfer files to a file server that you aren't logged in to. This can be accomplished by using a frequently overlooked feature of the IPX Remote Console (RConsole) utility.

Of course, REMOTE.NLM and RSPX.NLM must be loaded on the target server, and you must have the correct password.

From your workstation, follow these steps:

1. Execute RCONSOLE (normally in SYS:\PUBLIC).
2. Choose the server to initiate a Remote Console connection with.
3. Enter the correct password.
4. Once connected, press [Alt][F1] for a popup menu of options.
5. Select Transfer Files To Server.
6. You'll be prompted for the source, destination paths, and filenames.

This option can be especially useful for transferring files to the server's DOS partition without having to down the server.
