KICK OFF REMOTELY LOGGED ON USERS
Here's the situation: You're working after-hours, and you discover that some of
your offsite users have left their PCs logged on. This can definitely put a dent
in your maintenance plans, especially if the work is urgent and needs to be
accomplished to resolve a major problem.
How do you kick those users off remotely? You can enter the MONITOR utility and
begin to kick them off. But usually by the time you're finished with the last
one, the Novell Client has reconnected automatically for the ones you started
with.
Here's a different approach to try. At the server console, enter the DISABLE
LOGIN command, followed by the CLEAR STATION ALL command. This should do the
trick. These commands instruct the server to disallow logins and kick off all
connections.
But remember: This will kick you off as well. This method is best used for a
situation requiring primarily remote console access, with RCONSOLE or RCONJ
being run from another server.
