GENERATE LICENSE REPORTS WITH NLS

As budget time rolls around again, you might be faced with the often-daunting task of proving why it's necessary to purchase additional connection licenses. Fear this challenge no more: Novell Licensing Services provides you with an easy-to-use reporting capability that will make this process quick and painless.

To access the NLS reporting function, open NetWare Administrator and select Tools | Licensing Services | Generate License Reports.

A dialog box will appear, allowing you to scan the tree for license containers. Before searching the tree, you must set the context and provide other basic search criteria.

When the search options are configured appropriately for your environment, click OK, and the utility will search for licenses. The results will be displayed in an easy-to-read window.

To generate a License Usage Report, either double-click the appropriate license or right-click it and select Generate License Usage Report. You'll see a summary screen, and you can either cancel the operation or click Finish to create the report.

The finished report will be displayed, allowing you to view it as a graph or a text summary. You can modify the start and end dates, print the report, or save it-a quick and painless process, as we promised.
